Guatemala was the country in Central America that exceeded my expectations the most. If you’re looking for tips on where to go, what to do, and how to stretch your dollar there, then you came to the right place.
Depending on the amount of time you have in the country, I would 1000% recommend Semuc Champey, Antigua and Volcan Acatenango. I was in Guatemala for 5 weeks and I could have spent the ENTIRE time in Antigua I loved it so much, and before heading to Guatemala I knew I wasn’t leaving until I went to Semuc Champey!
Tikal National Park was also really cool to see. The ruins have such amazing history, and the majority of it is still undiscovered. They do have tours that run from Antigua, or it is easy to get to from Belize. If you have the time and don’t mind bus rides then it is worth checking out.
